The 8th Annual International Conference on Water Resources and Environment Research saw Planetary Health Research Fellow Byomkesh Talukder present on a panel titled Conflict Resolution in Responsible Governance of Water Resources and Environmental Systems II.

The presentation focused on a metacoupled systems analysis, an integrated approach to understanding human-nature interaction. It unifies analysis of coupled, adjacent and distanced systems, which describe different ways that humans and the environment affect each other. Coupled systems include, for example, harvesting or farming, where there is reciprocal human-nature interaction. Metacoupled systems analysis allows researchers to conceptualize human-nature interaction more holistically by enabling analysis of more than one of these systems at a time.

Byomkesh's presentation was titled Metacoupled system analysis of marine coastal ecosystems for addressing planetary health.
